DUGGA DUGGA

“Ya devi sarvabhuteshu vishnu-mayeti sadbita Namas tasyai, namas tasyai, namas tasyai namo namah”

Opening our eyes to this blissfull morning is full of excitement and the happiness of welcoming “DURGA MAA”. Listening to those mahalaya sloks of mahisashurmardini on radios and on the tv channels have become the most essential necessity for Bengalis every year. We really cant explain how much waiting a person does for this occasion. The morning dew drops with the scent of blossoming flowers remembers us “Maa aschen (maa is coming)”.

Therefore we decided to get you little more treat through your nostalgia, and ask you to come home this time. Subhrajeet Bhowmick, a cultural enthusiast has always mesmerized his way of thinking through the lenses….. oh wait! Did we say lenses?? Actually he captures but not through the DSLRish style, but through his smartphone. Yeahh!!! We aren’t joking. The photos you see here are all taken from his phone, though his outstanding angle has powered it up.

This photos are a specific combination of story telling you that dussehra is near. He has yet captured some raw shots of the way Bengalis feel about the Durga puja. The “KASH FUL” (a feathery plant seen specifically nearby the puja season) with the slow wind accompanied by the cloudy sky resembles the peace and happiness. Every year, on the day of MAHALAYA, every Bengali house turns live. They sing, they dance and they sway with the “pujo pujo vaab”.

The water, wind and the sand turns heavenly within earth. “ULU DHONI” surrounds the atmosphere. It seems so perfect. So, we here wish you all a very happy dussehra in advance and reluctantly thank Mr. Subhrajeet for sharing with us his beautiful captured moments.
